The West Area of Tarrant County definitely has its own personality. The near west includes exclusive homes and neighborhoods and is home to many of the city founders’ descendants. It is home to Fort Worth’s Cultural District with some of the nation’s top art museums, such as the Kimbell, the Modern and the Amon Carter, as well as the popular Museum of Science and History. The Will Rogers Memorial Center and Casa Mañana Theatre are also tourist attractions, all positioned at the east end of historic Camp Bowie Boulevard, which stretches to the outer west side. With Lockheed Martin manufacturing plant and the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base, the west side has long been the defense stronghold of Tarrant County. Suburbanites enjoy Lake Worth and Benbrook Lake with much room to grow toward Weatherford.
The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth has been acclaimed as a work of art in and of itself. Designed by Japanese architect Tadao Ando, the Modern crowns our outstanding Cultural District with yet another compelling attraction for locals and visitors alike.
Many West Area Council businesses are participating in Stay-in-School Initiatives. Click here to see how your colleagues and competitors are helping kids graduate and be productive citizens and employees.
